


About Jacqueline
Jacqueline Pelczar is a film director and writer based in Boorloo (Perth), Australia. She has directed various music videos, short films, and online series. Jacqueline was one of three directors attached to the internationally awarded web series SINGLE LADIES, supported by Screenwest and Screen Australia. Her latest short film SPARKLES, landed Jacqueline the award for Best Director at the Francigena Film Festival in Tuscany, Best Director (Australian Short Film) at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, as well as Audience Choice at the Mardis Gras Film Festival in Sydney.
Jacqueline’s work reflects her passion for social justice, diversity and inclusion, and the power of representation in sharing our stories. She grew up in a family of diverse cultural stories and identity, with both Polish and Sri Lankan heritage. Her up bringing heavily influenced her curiosity and deepened her values community and culture. These are values she brings onto every set as a director, and are present through her style of storytelling.
Jacqueline has worked in the Film and Television Industry for the past seven years across various other departments including Art, Production, Documentary Research, Editing, and has previously worked with Screenwest - Western Australia’s non-for-profit funding body for screen production, as Factual Administrative Coordinator.
Whilst continuing to pursue filmmaking, Jacqueline has worked as a mentor for creatives with various living disabilities, a support worker to those living with severe mental illness, and in community development roles. She believes in the power film has in enacting social change and empowerment, though is equally passionate about making a difference on a community level; through connection, advocacy, and care.
Jacqueline would like to acknowledge the Traditional Aboriginal Owners of the land on which she currently lives and works, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation, and pays her respects to their elders past, present, and emerging, of whom belong to the world’s oldest living culture. Sovereignty was never ceded in this country. Always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
